Frederick Mershimer (b.1958) received a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and studied printmaking at the New School, Pratt Graphics Center and Manhattan Graphics Center. He depicts New York City street scenes, often at nighttime, using the mezzotint technique to create a rich dark surface. His works are in the collections of museums in the US.
