Frederick Mershimer (1958-) received a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and studied printmaking at the New School, Pratt Graphics Center and Manhattan Graphics Center. He depicts New York City street scenes, often at nighttime, using the mezzotint technique to create a rich dark surface. His works are in the collections of museums in the US.

The first artist that was chosen to do the Presentation Print for the Print Club of New York in 1992 was Fred Mershimer. He was an outstanding master of the mezzotint. The print created was called Passage.
Mezzotint, 7″ x 11 3/4″, edition of 118/150. Signed, numbered and dated in the lower margin.
