Isabel Bishop (1902-1988) is best known for her depiction of shop girls, secretaries, and street men, who she viewed from her studio in Union Square. She portrayed these ordinary people in extraordinary ways, whether sitting on a park bench, riding the subway or strolling the neighborhood during lunch hour. Her art work is found in major museums throughout the US.
