Julian E. Levi (1900-1982) was born in Yorkville, New York. He grew up in Philadelphia and studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He was a member of the Federal Art Project. Levi taught at the Art Students League of New York, New School, and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He was elected into the National Academy of Design in 1973 as an Associate member and became a full Academician in 1976.
