What is Fine Art?: Ceramic Art, Illustration Art, Fine Art Paintings, & Sculpture Art
What is Illustration Art?
An illustration is a work of art that explains, clarifies, illuminates, visually represents, or merely decorates a transcribed text, which may be of a literary or commercial nature. Historically, book illustrations and magazine/newspaper illustrations have been the predominant forms of this type of visual art, although illustrators should also use their graphic skills in the fields of poster art, advertisements, greeting cards, cartoon-strips, comic books, and animation art. A most considerable amount of illustrative drawings were done in pen-and-ink, charcoal, or metal point; then, they were replicated using a wide range of print processes including woodcuts, photography, and halftone engraving, among others.
What is Ceramic Art?
Known as an essential plastic art, “Ceramics” refers to items made from clay and fired in a kiln to obtain the finished form. Outside of art, due to new technological processes, the term ceramics now encompasses a broader group of materials, including glass and cement, so the clay is no longer a key component.
What is Fine Art Paintings?
The art of painting consists of some combination of shapes, lines, colors, tones, and textures on a two-dimensional surface, creating a beautiful image. Besides that, one cannot tell, the infinite diversity of possibilities precludes any more precise definition. The complete painting may be fully representational and naturalistic – such as those of the photorealists – or completely abstract – containing only geometric shapes – or anyplace in between. In genre terms, it may be a narrative history work, a portrait, a genre scene, a landscape, or a still life. It may be applied using encaustic, tempera or fresco paint, oils, acrylics or watercolors, or any of the new contemporary mediums. There are many conflicting ideas about the function, design, style-hierarchy, and aesthetics of painting, so perhaps the most reliable thing is to say that as “visual artists,” painters are engaged in the responsibility of creating two-dimensional works of visual expression, in whatever manner appeals to them.
What is Sculpture Art?
The most enduring and, arguably, the highest form of fine art known to man, sculpture art, has contributed a significant part in the development of Western culture. Its chronicle and stylistic evolution are those of Western art itself. It is a significant indicator of the cultural accomplishments of Classical Antiquity and became a crucial influence on the spread of Renaissance art in Italy. Together with architecture, it was the dominant form of high religious art, which for ages (c.400-1800), was the driving energy of European civilization. Even today, although continuously evolving, sculpture art is still the leading method of expressing and commemorating both historical figures and events.
